About Michael Kaplan
As a business owner and certified EMyth coach, I’m passionate about sharing my years of experience with small-to medium-sized businesses, because I’ve walked in your shoes. I understand the day-to-day struggles you face as an entrepreneur. For more than 35 years I have owned a furniture store in Lafayette, Indiana, and I have decades of experience in sales, business coaching, and entrepreneurship.
Business Worries? I’ve Been There
I’ve seen first-hand the challenges small business owners face and how they often feel isolated, with nowhere to turn for help. I believe that entrepreneurship is best played as a team sport. That’s why I became a certified EMyth coach. I love the hands-on approach to mentoring and coaching CEOs, presidents, and business owners who want to gain a true competitive advantage. I love to see the faces of my clients when they gain insight into some of the skills needed to run their business—strategic planning, business management, getting their team to share a common vision, and connecting with other business leaders.
Forming Strategic Solutions Coaching LLC
After reading an article about SCORE, a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) program that mentors young entrepreneurs, I realized that coaching perfectly combined my skills and education. I became a SCORE volunteer and trained at some of the country’s best coach training programs, including the Coaches Training Institute; Vistage International; and EOS Worldwide, the entrepreneurial operating system. In 2008, I opened my own coaching business, Strategic Solutions Coaching LLC, and developed my business coaching system, GPS (Growth Producing Strategies) for Business™, which gives business leaders a new way to look at their businesses to accelerate growth. When I became a certified EMyth coach, I knew that I could bring all of my business and coaching skills into a venue where I have access to an even greater number of tools. EMyth has enabled me to reach more entrepreneurs than ever through its cloud-coaching platform.
With an outstanding reputation as a coach and businessman, I was asked to judge business plan presentations at Purdue University, and I helped to develop an entrepreneurial program at Ivy Tech. I teach organizations how to get focused, engaged, share a common vision, and become disciplined and accountable through executing and advancing as a healthy, functional, cohesive team.
Simply put, my passion is infectious. If you’re a small- to medium-sized business owner, you will benefit from my blend of seasoned experience, enthusiasm for small business, and the tools EMyth makes available.
My Business Coaching Philosophy
I have a passion for developing and empowering people. It goes back to my graduate training in social work and counseling, both of which have served me well. I take great pride in helping you get more satisfaction from your business. My philosophy is, “Build the business you REALLY want.” and “Make your business work for you, not you for it.”
I enjoy being a mentor and coach to CEOs, presidents, and business owners who want a true competitive advantage in their field. My clients experience professional and personal growth, and achieve a better work/life balance. In addition, they gain insights into strategic planning, business management, and the ability to connect with other business leaders. My approach is open, warm and engaging. I believe entrepreneurship best operates as a team, not an individual activity.
Life At Home
Beyond work, I share my home with my lovely wife, Ellie, in Lafayette, Indiana, and have a grown son, Josh, and daughter, Kate. My wife and I enjoy entertaining, theater, and I enjoy grilling on my Big Green Egg.
